About the Nijmegen rental market
Nijmegen is a compact university city whose rental market is driven by Radboud University and the HAN. Around the centre, Altrade and Bottendaal the homes are small and let quickly, while the Waalsprong districts of Lent and Oosterhout add newer, more spacious apartments with river views. The municipality applies relatively strict rules on room letting and property splitting, which has reduced the number of available rooms in recent years. For families, Hatert, Dukenburg and Neerbosch-Oost are affordable options with good bus links. Because Nijmegen is smaller than Utrecht or Groningen, fewer new adverts appear each week — which makes responding fast even more important.
